On the 29th of March The Boot Lab in Courchevel Moriond has teamed up with Gina to fix your ski gear.

To bring some positivity to the day we’ll be running an eco fundraising event. To stop clothing and ski products ending up in landfill we’ll be repairing your salopettes, jackets and ski boots for free. Got a zip, buckle or tear that needs a repair? Then drop in and we’ll do our best to fix it.

What’s an Eco Charity Day?

We’ll be running a “Bring & Buy Rail” a “Fix It don’t Ditch It Workshop”, “Service Your Skiing Clinics” and “Ski Sharpening”.

Bring & Buy Rail

Give those closets a good spring clean and drop in any unwanted ski gear, salopettes, jackets, goggles or clothes and we’ll run a Bring & Buy Rail. Before the 25th pop in and drop in any ski kit. If it’s broken we’ll fix it, we’ll wash it, waterproof it and then sell it! All proceeds will be used to plant as many trees as possible. And any left over clothing will be donated to the refugees living in Annecy.

Fix It Don’t Ditch It

On the day local seamstress Gina will be setup in front of the store (hopefully in glorious sunshine) fixing all your clothing problems. Armed with her trusty sewing machine, spare zips, buttons and poppers, she’ll be doing her best to breathe new life into your gear. And the Boot Lab Team will be on hand to repair your hardware. Got a broken buckle or binding, need a new liner to freshen up an old boot? Then we’ll be doing our best to repair it and freshen your gear up from our spares.

Service Your Skiing Clinic

The New Gen team will be running a set of free clinics in the afternoon to service your skiing. Head out for a blast with organic, locally sourced, free range European instructors. The team will be helping you service your skiing, with clinics including, Intro to Ski Touring (using 100% renewable leg energy) and Bash the Brexit Blues.

Sharpen Up

The New Gen team will be on hand to sharpen up your skis. With the International dream team of Jure, Luca and Dave making sure your skis rip. So why not get some of resorts best skiers to prime your skis for the conditions. They’ll help you grow your skiing and if you make a donation you’ll help us grow trees to.

So what’s the goal?

To keep as much gear as possible out of landfill and at the same time help reforest the planet. Happy with your repair, fix, service or instruction? Then leave us a donation and we’ll plant as many trees as we can. Everyone that donates on the day will receive a raffle ticket and The Boot Lab will be making the draw in the Boulotte during the break at apres.

For each Euro raised we can plant a tree in Kenya’s Kijabe Forest, a highland mosaic ‘Afro-alpine’ forest that was once dominated by trees, such as the East African pencil-cedar and African olive. Roughly one-third of the original high-canopy forest still stands and provides important habitat for biodiversity. The forest is only about 5,000 hectares, but a community of almost 200,000 people depend on it for water, wood, and agriculture. Increasing pressure for land poses significant threats to the region, leading to the over-extraction of resources and illegal timber harvesting. Planting trees here will help protect this vital ecosystem, promote environmental education, and foster sustainable livelihoods through seed collection and ecotourism.

So come along, get your kit repaired, empty your wardrobes, improve your skis and skiing. And most importantly help us reforest the planet!
