About the Boot Lab

We setup The Boot Lab in resort 8 years ago, and began by specialising in fitted ski boots. Over time we’ve added to our services and setup the Ski Lab.

We provide the best range of test skis in the Three Valleys area and we have a dedicated, friendly and highly trained team that love sharing their knowledge of ski equipment.

Our knowledge combined with a fantastic range will ensure you have the perfect ski for the conditions.

    Winter 2014/15

The petitions, protests and direct action of seasonaires and regular holiday makers pays off as Tom and Gav finally agree to set up a shop in Meribel.

  • Ski Testing!

    Winter 2018/19

Thoughts turn to what goes on the boots rather than in them. The Ski Lab is born.

Meet Tom

How long have you been in resort?

14 years now, and during that time my skiing has changed massively. Throughout I’ve come to understand that the type of ski on my feet is really important. A good ski suited to the conditions has literally transformed my skiing!

Why did you setup the Ski Lab?

Wanted to create a wide ski test fleet of exciting skis in Courchevel and Meribel that are well serviced and available for daily testing. It’s a service I would use and to be honest it is a also a slightly selfish idea, it means I can grab any ski from the rack on any given day!

What are your current skis?

I’m a big fan of Amplid skis. They’re just bomb-proof. As my go-to all-mountain ski I ride the Rockwell’s. If you like a stiffer twin-tip that will grip on the piste, has a small radius (so good for making lots of turns) but can still handle its self in the pow, then you can’t go far wrong.

I love ski touring and heading out into the back-country and for this I always take my Amplid Facelifts, they’re setup with a pair of G3 ION bindings. The Facelift is a lightweight touring ski built with Amplid’s revolutionary Topless Construction which cuts almost half a kilogram of weight from each ski vs conventional ski construction. They’re 108mm underfoot so enough surface area to surf in deep snow, but due to the weight the Facelift literally flies up the skin track!

Where have you skied?

I’ve been fortunate to ski all over the world in the last ten years. I’ve skied pow in Japan and Canada and ski toured in Norway and Iceland. But some of the best days I’ve had are here at home in the 3 Valleys. What a place it is! Make the most of it and ski the perfect ski for the perfect day.
